Gatehouse Folk in The Great War

The Gatehouse & District Branch of the Royal British Legion Commemorative Exhibition
The Exhibition is being funded in part by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.  The content of the exhibition is based on the very comprehensive research carried out by Margaret and Graham Wright of Gatehouse.

In addition to the exhibition a book has been published, based on the website www.gatehouse-folk.org.uk compiled by the Wrights.  It contains all the information that is known about the men and women from Gatehouse and District, or who had a connection with Gatehouse, who went to serve their country in the Great War.  The book is available at the Exhibition for sale, with the proceeds being donated to Service Charities.  The book is intended to provide a lasting Memorial to all those who served.

The children of Gatehouse Primary School have made a film about life in Gatehouse in 1914 including the singing of some popular songs from that time.  The film will be shown during the Exhibition.

For the first week of the exhibition there will be a small display of medals and other artefacts associated with the Great War.
