Nigel H Seymour has, over the decades, balanced his music delicately across the musical genres as a whole, creating a wonderful fusion of classic rock, pop and folk elements all rolled into one experience. Its unique aspect has dictated his presence in various parts of the world, from South America to the USA, Europe and the Uk.
His life in music has many interesting facets and twists of fate. but it was on the Isle of Iona in Scotland that he served his apprenticeship learning and playing his guitar for major ceilidh’s and gatherings.
It was in the mid 80’s that Nigel shot to fame in Chile South America with two songs from his first album entitled ‘Sacred Hearts’ Since this point he has recorded and collaborated on many recordings.
However, it was in 2009, he released his very long awaited classic rock album ‘Europe’ distributed by Universal Music. This album received massively favourable reviews around the world, and boasted some of the finest musicians in Scotland; being described as ‘thoughtful, melodic, plaintive and hypnotic, a totally listenable album, with echoes of the late John Martyn.’ Europe reverberated through the music scene becoming one of the best albums of its genre in 2011
2012 saw Nigel’s musical collaboration with the great Hungarian virtuoso, Nicola Parov, and a solo album they recorded together entitled ‘Valaszut’ recorded in Budapest Hungary, and features a unique blend of ethnic instruments’ performed by Nicola, coupled with songs Nigel wrote specifically for the project. This album has been hailed as: ‘One unique ‘meeting point’ of two extreme ethnic musical experiences rolled into one!’ with the song entitled ‘You’ll be you’ from the album, making great headway in Europe.
In recent year’s, Nigel’s close collaboration with the legendary Shelagh McDonald came to the fore with a series of concerts which toured the length and breath of Scotland.
Nigel is presently working on the release of a new EP, which will be available on Watermark Music.
His current offering is a rare blend of old and new songs, spanning a whole career of music… with one or two hidden surprises!
The whole concert makes for a completely unique experience, which takes the listener on a journey in music, to touch on their beginning, then on to their ‘today.’
