Mill Sessions : Eleanor McEvoy

Tickets £10

Eleanor McEvoy is undoubtedly one of Ireland’s most successful songwriters. She first came to prominence with her multi million selling worldwide hit ‘Only A Woman’s Heart’. The song was adopted as an anthem for women across the globe and subsequently has been covered by countless artists including Mary Black for whom the song was a No1 and her most famous hit. The song spawned the album ‘A Woman’s Heart’ which still remains the biggest selling Irish music album in Irish music history.

With her last release ‘Alone’, Eleanor explored her wonderful back catalogue and performed them in a striped back format allowing her to express them in a way not heard before. Her live shows show her as a captivating performer with a natural affinity with her audience. A multi instrumentalist, she is much in demand by other artists including Mary Black, Paul Brady and Sharon Shannon.

2012 has already been a busy year for Eleanor as she celebrated the 20th anniversary of ‘Only A Woman’s Heart’ with a sell out night at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre alongside Mary Black, Dolores Keane and Mary Coughlan. Eleanor was also a headliner at this years Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow, playing the Royal Concert Hall, as part of the sell out ‘A Song For Ireland’ with Finbar Furey, Luka Bloom and Brian Kennedy and is putting the finishing touches to her new album which will be release to coincide with her Autumn tour of the UK and Ireland.
