The town of Gatehouse of Fleet was built from scratch in the mid eighteenth century as a planned industrial town. It grew out of great changes in society at the time - a product of the industrial revolution. This exhibition tells its story.
The Fleet Valley is a designated National Scenic Area. It contains a wide variety of landscape and wildlife. This exhibition follows the river as it flows from the high hills and wild moorland at the head of the valley between the narrow wooded slopes of the middle section of the valley with its patchwork of small fields and woodlands to the open estuary landscape where the river flows into the bay. A set of trail guides available from the Mill complements the exhibition.
